Things that are so surreal that they are hard to fathom have always been of great interest to me. So when TwiLex listed among their many entries the story of Casey Ray suing Summit, I just had to investigate. Thank you TwiLex for this, because it is pretty humorous in a really sick, money grubbing sort of way.
Seems that Ray and Summit entered into an agreement over the movie scripts found in a trash bin at a St. Louis motel where the cast of "Up in the Air" had been staying. One script was Kendrick's watermarked script of "New Moon". The other was titled "Memoirs" and as we all know it was the script for "Remember Me". Kendrick's script for "New Moon" was titled "Un-something Sports Script". Obviously an attempt by Summit to make a fake name so unappetizing that no one would venture past the title page. However, I'm figuring that Ray, who has no aversion to dumpster diving and freely admits it, knew exactly what she had simply because Kendrick's name was on it. I would have.
So Ray, in an agreement with Summit, returns the scripts to Summit in exchange for invitations for 2 to the "New Moon" and "Remember Me" premieres plus invitations to the after premiere parties. She took her niece to the "New Moon" premiere, but because of the cost of airfare plus living arrangements, she decided she couldn't afford the second premiere and thus put the invitations to the "Remember Me" premiere and after party up for grabs on ebay. When Summit caught wind of this, spoil sports that they are, they informed her that she couldn't do that. Her attorney countered that, yes she could as no restrictions were given in the original agreement. So Summit comes back that they aren't sending the little package, that she and only she will be able to retrieve it at the "will call" window in New York with the appropriate identification of course. So Ray and her attorney decide to sue Summit for what they promised. If you follow this link, you can read the lawsuit plus the exhibits attached to it.

Now, I for one would love to see Summit in a Hulk Hogan headlock, however, in reading the original agreement I'd have to say with an untrained eye, that Summit actually has grounds. The part that makes me think so is this: "Summit shall issue to Ray an invitation to Ray and not less than one guest............"(It's number 7 of Exhibit A). And no where does it say she can do as she damn well pleases with her payment for giving the stuff back. Summit also never said they would make it an all expense paid trip. She was grousing about what her out of pocket expenses were, not that she was gypped. So I figure, in an attempt to recoup the first trip expenses and probably receive a little pocket money, she decided to sell them on ebay.
I have an idea that she already took payment for the tickets and party pass and that's what has caused all of this. I have no idea what the final bid was because I'm an ebay illiterate and wouldn't know where to start looking for it. However, I'd bet that it probably isn't there any longer anyway. And I'd bet she got a pretty penny for it as well. So now, she is screwed. No tickets, no after party pass, no autographed scripts to be returned and certified as authentic, which she probably could have sold on ebay for a tidy price. So instead of getting one up on Summit they have gotten one up on Ray. Just doesn't pay to be greedy.
Somehow though, unless justice moves quicker in Missouri than it does anywhere else in the United States, it will all be for naught anyway since the tickets were suppose to be delivered to her attorney 10 days before the premiere which is in just a few days. So what if Summit loses?
The lingering question and the one that really has me scratching my head: Why would Kendrick have had an unwatermarked copy of "Memoirs" ?????

Here We Go Again
http://www.twilightlexicon.com/2010/02/17/leaked-photos-kaleb-puts-it-better-than-we-could-have/
Legal or not, the "leaked" photos of the Eclipse stills, were better than the nothingness we have found since filming ended, New Moon was released and Remember Me is in the wings. Too late Summitt: I've seen the pictures, so sue me. Last I looked, however, you can't get blood out of this turnip and you have no way of erasing the images from my head. And then to have to get the dutiful lecture from TwiLex, well that was the be all, end all. If it was to make me feel like a child caught with their hand in the cookie jar, well it missed that mark as well. I did have a rather bothersome hot flash though. Does that count????
TwiLex is a good website. Don't get me wrong. They provide plenty of information of interest to us, the fans. If I've one complaint it is the self-righteous way they sometimes handle their readers constantly reminding us of their unbreakable ties to SM and Summitt. Surely, it would have been nice had they shared their profound wisdom with other websites, rather than wait until today to say anything, after other sites received their c & d orders from Summitt. If you want to take the high road and be the wealth of information that you seem to be, then do everyone hosting Twilight websites a favor and share information. Otherwise, it looks like you are gloating and that really isn't very nice. My mamma taught me better.
As to the pictures themselves, kindly tell me what the BFD is? It's like the "leaked" preview of New Moon recorded at ComicCon last summer and then put up on You Tube. If Summitt can't see that it went a long way to whet our appetites and anticipation of the movie, then I doubt that there is one working brain cell in all of the Summitt Studio offices. The pictures harmed no one, therefore no foul. Better that they look within themselves and try to figure out which dunderhead leaked the photos to begin with rather than use the mighty arm of the law to threaten innocent people. Let's say that party number one leaked the photos to party number two and party number two knew they were leaked or were told they were leaked by party number one. So many times corporations, politicians etc., leak information they don't want to come right out and say, but want the public aware. Then when they get pissed later, they can point fingers at everyone else and wave c & d orders all over the place.
So, the websites pulled the pictures down. Good for them. But not before most have been committed to hard drives all over the world. Whatcha gonna do about that?? Call the A-Team, the CIA, the FBI, Mission Impossible........who? This blog will self-destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.......
