Whew! Whirlwind appearances by Rob are now officially over. I suppose he happily got on a plane yesterday with the rest of his family and headed back to London to resume filming of Bel Ami. And, if the interviews are any indications was glad to do it.
It must be a complete bore to have to do so many interviews answering the same questions over and over. I can't imagine how it is to have to be entertaining as well. Sort of felt sorry for his co-star who had very few questions directed her way and the ones that were fell back to Rob for extended answers. All interview roads lead back to Rob. However the bra ball bag was funny and his up in the tree antics with Jimmy Fallon were cute. I'm ready to see the movie. Barbara Walters said he reminded her of James Dean. Hey, I loved Giant. If he is half as good this should be a nice turn for him.
But, I am wondering how many theaters will actually be showing Remember Me? Yesterday, I checked Fandango to see where I was going to have to go to see it. Now remember, I live in the Dallas metro area. Multiplexes abound. I've one about 2 miles from me. So I type in my zip and the title and I'm shown four, yes only four theaters in the Dallas to McKinney corridor that actually have it up. And that's only for the weekend. By Monday, it drops to two. Scratching my head here. Fortunately, one theater is within 5 miles so it isn't a big deal. However, most schools will be out for Spring Break during week one. Small as this film might be, twigirls will go see it. It's rated PG-13. Moms will drop the daughters in droves to get rid of them for the day and may even be tempted to see it themselves. Makes you wonder who is doing the distribution for this flick. Summit sleeping again, I wonder?
In other news, Mattel has offered up it's Jacob Black doll (http://www.twilightlexicon.com/2010/03/02/jacob-black-barbie-design-flaw/) another piece of get rich quick thinking. I have to admit though, this one looks more like Jake than the Bella doll looked like Bella. Seems that they released it with the tribal tattoo upside down though. Giggle. Take the trouble to make it close then screw it up by printing the tattoo upside down. Not that I would have noticed. I mean I didn't spend hours looking at the bloody thing in the first place. Now these will become collector items because Mattel has now been informed of their mistake and are working to correct the problem, but it seems not pulling the already distributed dolls from the shelves. So if you are inclined to buy it, make sure you get one with the upside down tattoo.
And midway through editing Eclipse, Summit has replaced the editor with the editor from Twilight (http://www.twilightlexicon.com/2010/03/03/eclipse-staffing-change/). It appears that David Slade's editor from his past horror flicks, just wasn't doing the emotional job of editing, so in comes Catherine Hardwicke's editor from Twilight. Guess Summit wasn't impressed with the coming trailer. It doesn't say that, but why else would they switch so late in the game? I'm starting to get the willies about this film. First they hire a known horror director to direct it, then they switch editors. Scary to think what the end result will be. I have hoped all along that the movies as a whole would show some continuity between them. I liked the warmer look of New Moon, much better than the blue filter look of Twilight. Hope they don't screw this one up. No wonder Summit hasn't said that there will be a last installment yet. Sounds like right hand has no idea what left hand is doing.
And another charity gig for 100 Monkey's (http://www.twilightlexicon.com/2010/03/03/100-monkeys-supporting-adreanal-cancer-awareness/) coming up in Dallas. Tickets to event only $30. Holding it at a Deep Ellum club called Trees. Another big giggle. This place is so small, there are no seating that everyone attending will be shoulder to shoulder. My son has played this venue before and trust me, it's dark, dank, and the people hanging outside have piercings through every part of their faces. Oh yeah, I'm lining up for that one. Not! Good luck to anyone driving six hours to be there for this one. And you know that they will.
So from my lighter side world to yours, I'm out.

Show times aren't even posted for my zip code yet. If Summit doesn't distribute the movie to a bunch of theaters it'll look like nobody wants to see Rob in anything other than Twilight movies and that would be absolutely inaccurate. It would also be a crying shame.
ReplyDeleteI just checked for showtimes in Springfield, IL and there are none listed yet. Not sure when they actually post the for the following week though. I was thinking it was in Thursdays.
